Kate Maxwell | Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Wingmom was founded by Meg Hurst and Kate Maxwell in 2017. Although Meg left Wingmom in 2019, Meg and Kate are still best friends and the spirit of their friendship is still reflected in Wingmom today.
It all started when Kate lost her fiancé in the line of duty during a fire in 2016; Kate was devastated. Losing her partner changed who she was and the things she viewed as important. Kate found herself wondering about her future and searching for her next steps. She was grateful to be surrounded by a group of women who supported her and she knew she wanted to help others as she had been helped during her time of need. When she got back on her feet, she was given a purpose with the help of Wingmom co-founder Meg Hurst and ultimately Wingmom was born. As Wingmom grew, Kate knew what her calling was and vowed to create an extensive support system for people in need of a little extra help.
Kate loves hiking in Arden, where she lives with her two sons, Landon and Casey. She is active in a number of non-profit organizations as well as being a proud member of the addiction community. Her passion for helping others is evident in the community projects sponsored by Wingmom, and this type of outreach has become one of the tenets of the company. Wingmom is also proudly women owned, women run and largely powered by women.
Susan France | Chief Operating Officer
Susan worked in childcare for over 20 years, first as an educator, then as an administrator and center owner. Once she began to grow her family, she decided to retire from childcare and focus on her home life. When she was ready to rejoin the workforce, she turned to Wingmom as a way to make money while still having the flexibility to make her family her first priority. After a few weeks with the North DE Branch, it was determined her business background would be put to better use in an administrative capacity. Now, she works alongside Kate and the various Branch Owners to continue to grow the brand that is Wingmom and carry out its important mission of helping people in the community. Susan has lived in Delaware since the early 90’s, graduated from the University of Delaware and now resides in Newark with her husband, Don, and their 2 sons.
Taylor Safian | Staff Manager
Taylor started as a Wingmom client 7 years ago. After working for several years in a variety of different customer service roles, she ended up taking a leap of faith and coming to work for Wingmom as the Staff Manager, recruiting and training new staff members. Now, she gets to work with the same women who made some of her worst days so much brighter when she was a client. Taylor is a wife and Momma of a crazy and wild 7 year old boy and 2 puppers. She loves to spend time starting her next DIY project, spending time with her family outdoors or watching a good murder mystery.
Erin Krause | Community Outreach & Events Coordinator
Erin is the Community Outreach Coordinator for Wingmom. She has been with Wingmom since 2019 and has done an array of jobs and currently loves working within the community, partnering with other small businesses and giving back! Erin has two kids, ages 8 and 4, so most of her time is spent taxiing them to school and activities. She loves watching her son play soccer and her daughter dance. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, watching any and all 80s movies, and baking.
